Have you experienced these thoughts during team meetings?
– “This could have been an email”
– “Why are we still talking about this?”
– “I already know what he is going to say.”
– “We aren’t getting out of here until everyone agrees with her.”
– “No one wants to hear why we can’t get this project done on time.”
– “This has nothing to do with the agenda.”
Setting ground rules can help keep team meetings in check. The Facilitator School proposed 14 excellent ground rules for effective meetings, https://lnkd.in/g_J7EXGJ. My favorites are #4 “Tackle problems, not people,” #6 E.L.M.O – “Enough, let’s move on,” & #9. 3×3 Rule – “Everyone should wait until 3 other people have spoken or 3 minutes have passed before speaking again.” Which ground rules could you implement to make the most of your many meetings?
